Hirschel is Chairman of the firm’s proprietary US Large Cap Equity Strategy (LCES). Prior to Fischer Stralem, Hirschel co-founded Stralem & Company Incorporated in 1966. At Stralem he conducted research and oversaw implementation of the LCES. Prior to founding Stralem, Hirschel was a partner in corporate finance as well as an economic adviser at Ladenburg Thalmann & Co., which he joined in 1956.
Hirschel has managed and/or served on boards of companies in the food service, housing, manufacturing, computer products, specialty retailing, radio broadcasting and publishing industries.
From 1987 to 2000, Hirschel served on the Trustee Investment Committee of Cornell University, where he is a member of the Advisory Council of the Johnson Graduate School of Management and a life member of the University Council. He is trustee emeritus of both Pitzer College, where he served on the Investment Committee, and Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School. He also is a former member of the National Advisory Council of Outward Bound.
Hirschel received a Bachelor of Arts and a Master’s of Business Administration from Cornell University.
